A story by Teja

MEAN WITCHES
In 1955 three special girls were born: Mandy, Elly and Anny. They had a very strange birth, because they were born in 15 minutes and their mum did not die. Their mum Caroline was very nasty witch, but nobody know. She raised her children to be bad, mean, awful girls, because she wanted them to be mean. But they had a problem, they needed one more girl, who could perform magic.
That three girls went to normal school, but nobody liked them. They did not like them too. Mandy had long, straight, grey hair and she was very tall. She was main in this group. Elly had short, curly, black hair and she loved snakes and tarantulas. And the third had medium-length, blond, wavy hair and she was the most beautiful. They were very smart, so they had the best marks in the class.
But one day came in the classroom a new girl Nancy. She was very friendly, helpful and honest. She had brown, long hair and she hated reptiles. That day she knew the witches. She told them, that she is a witch too, but she helped good people. They lied to her that they like people, because they knew that they needed her. She was very happy that she got new friends on her first day. This day she met a handsome guy and fell in love.
Mother and three girls invited Nancy to their home and asked her, if she would like to stay there. She was very surprised, but she stayed. Then everybody made the circle and began to perform magic. They could hear the Satan. Mean witches started to laugh laudly and in this moment Nancy saw what she did. She was so angry with them. She left them, but they came for her, and tried to stop her. She was so terrified. They started magic and tried to kill her. She defended herself and she won.
Everybody lost their magic and became normal girls. Now are they very happy and proud girls. The friendship means everything to them. They called themselves EX MEAN WITCHES.

An interview with my grandmother

I interviewed my grandmother Anka Brglez and asked about her memories of her childhood in Stara Loka.

Were you born in Stara Loka?
Yes, I was born in 1953 in a house where I am living now.
What was life like in Stara Loka in those days?
There weren’t so many houses here, but there were a lot of farms and fields. People were friendlier in those days. My parents were farmers, so we had enough food, but most families starved.
What’s your most vivid childhood memory?
I was three years old. I helped my mum on the field. I was tired and mother put me on the big basket. I was bored so I started swinging in the basket. The basket stood at the top of hill. Suddenly the basket started rolling down the hill. It stopped one meter from the water. Everybody told me that I’m very lucky.
What do you particularly remember about that times? We lived on the farm and I worked a lot of time. My favourite day was Sunday. In the morning we went to mass and then children played outside until the evening.
Do you think children were happier when you were young?
Yes and no. We didn't have electricity, modern cars and mobile telephones. We went to the school in the morning and worked on the farm until the evening. Today school is very important, but when I was young we didn’t care about school. We didn't have a lot of homework. When I was young I was really happy, but a lot of children weren’t. They didn't have food and they were very hungry.

Two stories by Katja

THE MYSTERY MAN
It was a winter afternoon and children were making a snowman. They were staying in the house wich was in country, and all alone. it was quite a distance to the nearest village. In the evening, after dinner they were sitting by the fireplace and drinking warm tea. Suddenly Joe wanted to close curtains but he saw a man standing near their snowman. He was standing still that children wouldn't see him. He told that to his friends but they didn't believe him. They said, who woud watch them in such a remote place. They still looked trough the window but they didn't see anyone. But he could swear that someone stood there motionless and watched them. Nick remembered why Joe come to the window - to close curtains. He did this instead of Joe. But Joe remembered that when he saw the man and he hung up a cup of tea. He forgot it at the window sills. He opened the curtains but something caught his attention. At the window was standing the man, wich he saw by the snowman. He screamed out laud. Sue and Peter watched this from a table by the fireplace. They called the housewife who was staying with them in the house. She ran from the kitchen and when the guy saw an adult he ran away. They locked all doors and windows and they went to bed terrified. Sue hugged her dog, the others hugged their pillows and soon they were all asleep.

A HOUSE IN THE WOODS

It was a sunny day and Sue, John, Mark and Gaby were going on a little trip. They wanted to go in woods where there is a little house. It belongs to Gaby's family. They walked for 45 minutes or half hour and they already could see the house. It was very old and alone. Nobody of them knew what that little old house can keep inside. It was getting dark and they lit the fireplace so that they would sleep in a warm house. Soon they all fell asleep. But suddenly, in the middle of the night Sue heard some voices.. there were two man saying something she didn't hear. They were getting closer to the house. ''They can't see us'', she said to herself. She ran to the beds of her friends and woke them up. The house was old so it has a lot of secret places. The voices were getting closer, so there wasn't a lot of time to think where to go. They were running upstairs, because there was no other way out except the front door but there were robbers or whatever. Soon they heard a key in the lock and the door opened. The man were talking about money and gold watch they stole and the women they killed. If they saw the kids they would probably kill them too. They moved some things and tooe the money, gold and murder weapon. They decided to burn this house down. A couple years ago they hid a body here. They set fire but they didn't know about the kids upstairs. They already wanted to go but suddenly one of the strangers fell in to the fire, the other wanted to save him but he fell too. They both died. The kids jumped out of the window and ran away to tell the police. They decided that they will build a new house but closer to home and away from danger.

Friendship 1

ABOUT FRIENDSHIP

For me, the most important thing in friendship is trust and truth. I think the best friends help you in any situation. Some people think that you can have just one best friend, but I don't agree. I think you can have two or more best friends. I think you must have some best friends. If you don't have friends you are lonley. Friends are very important in life, because they make you happy, if you are sad.
